Sapia was born in 1997 when Ana Piedrahita a medical doctor very passionate about handicrafts, started recycling and reusing the orange peel to create flowers, boxes, and other gifts. All items she did were to give away as presents to her friends and they loved them.

in 2000 she hired Javier Cardenas as engineer to organise the small workshop and after years of hard work they became business partners.

Sapia continues to work together with Aid to Artisan Columbia & USA, USAID, Proexport and other NGO's.
